Productions
The Main Stage season typically features four productions, including one musical, which are directed by regular faculty members and guest artists. Casts and crews are comprised of both undergraduate or graduate students and are occasionally augmented by guest artists. The Studio season varies from year to year in content and personnel involvement as might be expected. There are four levels of studio productions:
- In-the-Works
- Showcase
- Thesis
- Faculty Directed
In-the Works (ITW) are low-budget exercises by first time (to BU) student directors. Showcases are mounted by proven ITW directors on a larger scale. Thesis productions are directed by undergraduate or graduate students who have successfully completed a Showcase. Faculty-directed studio productions occur as often as schedules allow, averaging one or two per year and may be included on the Main Stage Schedule. Design assistance is afforded Showcase, Thesis, and Faculty-directed studio productions when available. Other studio offerings may include directing class one-act play festivals, class-related original plays, performance art pieces, and student choreographed dance works.
